Breaking down the Bowl Games: Is anybody going to New Mexico or St Petersburg Florida...

Anyplace is alright as long as I can forget about this season.

Time to plant yourself in front of the screen and drown your sorrows of the season that could have been while working on your 1080 tan.  I encourage you to watch every stinking game that you can possibly watch because come January 8th, “the done is deal.”  And you won’t get any real college football for EIGHT LONG MONTHS.  As my good friend Forde says, you can’t watch them all if you don’t watch the first one so here we go.

#1
New Mexico Bowl, Saturday, Dec 19th, 3:30 CST on ESPN
Fresno State Vs Wyoming

The nation’s #1 rusher, Ryan Matthews will run all over the 91st ranked rushing D of Wyoming.  Wyoming’s only real hope in this one is to load the box and stop the run, create some turnovers from Fresno state who is 105th (really bad) in turnover margin.  And don't forget coach Fu Manchu.

Pick:  Vegas is saying Fresno State by 11.  I’m taking Fresno State to cover easy.

#2:
St Petersburg Bowl, Saturday Dec 19th, 7:00 CST, ESPN
UCF vs Rutgers

Rutgers is #1 in turnover margin and #20 in rushing defense.  UCF is #4 in rushing D and #5 in sacks.  So this defensive battle between two teams who have never played one another is going to come down to offense.  Offenses are pretty statistically matched but Rutgers plays a much tougher schedule than UCF.

Pick: Rutgers is favored by 3.  I’m picking them to cover against the home team.

Tomorrow, Why you should watch Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss on Sunday.
