"Clean, Old-fashioned Hate" and Love on Thanksgiving Weekend~In State Rivalry Edition

11:00 #22 Georgia Tech at #11 Georgia, cbs, aka “Clean, Old-fashioned Hate”
You can’t make this stuff up.  From the unofficial fight song “To Hell with Georgia” to playing for the Governor’s Cup, this rivalry is going strong since 1893.  It’s the SEC vs the ACC.  Tech has a chance in this one if they strike early since Georgia has been off for 2 weeks.  Tech’s 116th ranked passing O isn’t prone for the big play.  The Dawgs weakness is their D line which is 85th in sacks and 57th in tackles for loss which plays right into Tech’s 4th ranked rushing attack.  When Georgia has the ball they are pretty balanced but lean toward the pass because teams want to stop Moreno.  The difference in this one will be special teams where Tech is not so special and Georgia will have good field position for most drives.

Georgia is giving 9 at home.  Georgia will cover but it will be close.

2:30 #4 Florida at #20 Florida State, abc, “the Battle for the Governor’s Cup”

Gators lead the series 31-19-2.  The Noles D line is one of the best in the country #1 in tackles for loss and #4 in sacks.  Florida is #1 in turnover margin and #3 in scoring offense and defense.  Florida is playing for BCS style points on the road.  The Noles are peaking but would have to play the best game of their season to beat Florida.  Florida will burn the Noles with big plays and this one will get away from them in the 2nd half.

Florida is giving 15.  I’m taking Florida and the points.

7:00 #3 Oklahoma at #12 Oklahoma State, abc, “Bedlam”

Since 1904 Oklahoma leads 79-16-7 including the 1954 game that was “fixed” by the mob with some food poisoning so OSU could cover.  The Sooners are peaking and the Cowboys took a week off to prepare for this one.  Don’t expect the Pokes to have any rust when this one kicks off.  The Sooners are playing for a shot at the Big 12 and a BCS Bowl.  OSU is in their traditional role of spoiler to the Sooners favorite.  Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State is #1 vs #7 in scoring offense, #32 vs #68 in pass efficiency d and #54 vs #56 in Scoring D.  Expect Bradford to have all day to find his receivers against the Pokes D line that is 102nd in Sacks and 93rd in tackles for loss.  If this becomes a field position battle, OSU would have the advantage with their special teams that are #2 and #15 in punt and kick returns.  OU will be challenged to put together long drives and keep the ball away from the Pokes.  The pokes will use the run to free up their tight ends on the pass and OU has been weak against tight ends splitting the Line Backers and Pettigrew is a BEAST.

Oklahoma State is getting 7.5 at home.  I think OU’s O line makes the difference.  I’m taking the Sooners to cover and not just because I got in trouble from the Mrs. last week for picking Tech.  Oklahoma State "get your guns up" lessons sold separately in Lubbock. If you are a Man and you are 40, you will love this one.
