Breaking Down the Big 12 - Baylor Bears
It's 40 days until kickoff. So in the next 39 days I'll be breaking down the Big 12 team by team, game by game.
Let's take a trip down to Waco, Texas where hope springs eternal for a Big 12 victory.
Baylor Bears
2007 Season: 3-9, 0-8 conf
2008 Season:
Highlights: Art Briles has brought some swagger to the bad news, beat down Bears. Baylor returns four offensive linemen (two with NFL talent). This offensive line only allowed 22 sacks last year. Returning QB Blake Szymanski and WR David Gettis will give some secondary coaches headaches.
Lowlights: The Bears were 110th in pass defense and 86th in run defense out of 119 teams in D1. They were dead last in D1 in turnovers last year giving it away 18 more times than they took it away. The secondary is suspect at best and not too many improvements in the spring.
Keys to Success: Prayer (I guess you're in the right place for that), hold on to the ball and score touchdowns because you're not going to beat anyone with Defense.
The Games:
Aug. 30 Wake Forest - W I've already called this one. I'm not impressed with the ACC and I think the Bears could walk away a "W"
Sept. 6 Northwestern State - W
Sept. 13 Washington State - L
Sept. 19 @ UConn - L
Oct. 4 Oklahoma - L
Oct. 11 Iowa State - W This is the year that the Bears get a Big 12 win. Dr Pepper for everyone!!!!!
Oct. 18 @ Oklahoma State - L
Oct. 25 @ Nebraska - L
Nov. 1 Missouri - L
Nov. 8 @ Texas - L
Nov. 15 Texas A&M - L
Nov. 29 @ Texas Tech - L
There's nothing like a die hard fan.

"Sure honey. We'll be back from the Ballet recital in about four hours."
